Sidetrade Supported Browsers Policy

At Sidetrade, we want to provide users of our solutions with the best, most secure experience possible, and maintain our own extremely high standards of security patches to our users. With this in mind, and following Microsoft’s decision to stop supporting Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) from 30 November, 2020, we have taken the decision to only focus our future development efforts on newer internet browsers. With plenty of exciting new features in development, available from January 2021, we want to take this opportunity to ensure you’ll be able to take advantage of the improvements to your Sidetrade solution.

What does this mean for me?

This applies to you if your organization uses IE11 as standard. Microsoft have decided to end-of-life Internet Explorer, which means that IE11 is the final version. Microsoft will only release security updates for the latest version of Internet Explorer for each operating system, but they are advising users to migrate to Microsoft Edge. As our products exist and are developed in the cloud, using our products is dependent on your browser access. Because browsers that are approaching end-of-life can be vulnerable to security risks due to lack of development and maintenance, we ask that you migrate to a more up-to-date browser in order to continue using our products. Please see the table below for browsers that our products can be supported on.

Will I still be able to use Sidetrade products?

When you’ve migrated to a supported browser, the way you use your Sidetrade products will stay the same. In fact, we’re currently working on refreshing the interface of our Augmented Cash solution, to improve the look and feel, as well as user experience, of our platform. Because Microsoft will no longer be supporting IE11, we have taken the decision to not release these new developments on IE11. This interface refresh project is due to be completed in Spring 2022. Until this time, users will still be able to toggle between our older, classic interface and the new interface. After this date, we will be switching off our classic interface so that all of our customers can benefit from these new features and functionality. We ask that you ensure you have completed your migration from IE11 to a more up-to-date browser before this date, to ensure you can still access your Sidetrade solution.

Why should I update my browser?

In addition to the updates we’re planning to bring to our products, updating your browser and moving away from IE11 is a good idea for the overall security of your organization. In line with Microsoft’s decision to end-of-life Internet Explorer, you may see similar cloud systems that you work with day-to-day move away from supporting IE11. Additionally, having an up-to-date browser that is fully supported by its creator will ensure your exposure to security threats is minimized; it’s relatively easy for malicious hackers to exploit security flaws in older browsers, as the company that owns the browser is no longer releasing security updates and fixes as problems are detected. Simply put, having a regularly-updated browser can make your computer – and your whole workplace – safer.

Which browsers can I use when working on Sidetrade products?

Below you’ll find a simple table showing which browsers we currently support for our products. Please note, you can still use the classic version of Augmented Cash on IE11 until we make the official switch over to the new interface in Spring2022 – though we recommend you change your browser sooner in order to try out the range of exciting new features we’re releasing from now until then.
