Does Artificial Intelligence encourage collaborative working?
Frédéric Dupont-Aldiolan – Yes, without question. Artificial Intelligence platforms simplify day-to-day team activity via automation of the more time-consuming, low-skilled tasks, but they’re also cultivating an entirely new level of collaboration between departments. Cloud-hosted shared data that’s constantly updated in real time can now be made accessible company-wide from any device.
Digitalization of processes, collaborative working and information sharing are speeding up analytical and anticipation capabilities. When a company has an efficient user-friendly platform to rely upon, it itself becomes more efficient. It gains the power to anticipate.
Business solutions have long been the preserve of IT departments. How has this changed?
F.D-A. – If IT departments are still guardians of information systems, processes are in the hand of the businesses. The expansion of data and the greater accessibility that Big Data entails has increased competition. Flexible, fast working and adapting to change have become crucial for all departments. Artificial Intelligence has become a support function for this, at every company level. Marketing, Finance and Sales departments are now able to share information across the entire customer life cycle.
Is genuine collaboration between Marketing, Sales and Finance departments possible?
F.D-A. – It’s not just possible, it’s essential. The days when departments could work in isolation are gone. Collaboration is the only way of meeting the data challenge today and coming out on top. Companies are entering the era of business partners.
Today the CFO supports the growth of business, even if it is the responsibility of the Sales director; marketing departments have the benefit of powerful lead generation predictive software for sales prospecting; Sales departments have access to new information with which to contact their leads and work with more qualified leads; the Sales director, by working with healthy clients, supports the accelerate of cash lead by Finance; Finance departments have the capability to predict post-deal customer payment behavior, so they, in turn, can furnish Sales teams with additional negotiation leverage…. But, to hit performance targets, every link in the chain has to be solid.
What are the challenges in all this?
F.D-A. – More sophisticated machines means they’re more complex to operate. It’s no longer enough to be trained on the ERP. However fantastic the new tools are, you still have to grasp how to drive them.
Data quality is also a key issue for making full use of these new tools. When it comes to vast quantities of processed data and complex analysis, synthetic intelligence (SI) visualization tools come into their own.
Last but not least, a process of organizational change management has to take place to establish the new processes, tools and collaboration methods.
